METTA:

LAKEWOOD, OHIO

This mural was in collaboration with the City of Lakewood, Ohio and my friends at the Willow Room Salon. The City wanted to add more public art into the neighborhood so they partnered with local businesses and artists to make it happen.

The initial proposal had the mural on the upper section of the building. Luckily a friend pointed out that from down the street a huge tree blocked the top half of the wall, so I adjusted and moved the art down (the budget wasn't big enough to do the entire wall :)

The painting took about two weeks of pretty long days, with a day or two off for rainy weather. I think I met the entire neighborhood during those two weeks. It was so much fun to interact with the public and meet new friends and supporters.

The mural is titled "Metta" because I silently chanted a loving kindness prayer while I painted- this is prayer/meditation is known as metta. If you're ever in Lakewood, Ohio stop by Willow Room Salon for a haircut and check the mural out!

May all beings be happy. May all beings be free. May all beings be filled with love and compassion. May all beings realize the incredible amount of love and light that's always available to them. May all beings know peace.
